Question 1 - July 18, 2001 - Sam Lawter from
Douglasville, GA asked, "Geoffrey MacIntyre stated on several
occasions that you and Raychel came to blows outside of the studio. He
even stated that on one occasion you beat her to an inch of her life.
Can you speak to the validity of this remark or to why he would make
such a blatant statement if it is false?"
Response 1: Thank you for giving
me the opportunity to respond to this aspect of my relationship with
Raychel. Our relationship was physical in many respects. Raychel and I
shared that focus on the material world. I just can’t wrap my mind
around the spiritual aspects of life (although I do understand its
disciplines). Raychel understood it better than I, but you can read in
her poetry how gritty she preferred to be. She was boundless in her
passions: passionate in her love, passionate in her poetry, passionate
in her addictions, and passionate in her anger.
I think her anger and violence are downplayed on the site. Maybe it is
because people did not see it as much as I did, but it is more likely
that few people here wish to “desecrate Raychel’s memory” by describing
her more negative aspects (such as her drug addiction – but there are
also other reasons). So to finally answer your question, there is
validity in Geoffrey MacIntyre’s claim that Raychel and I came to blows
several times. However, he neglected to mention that I also sustained
numerous injuries from Raychel. What she did not have in muscles, she
made up for in fury. That fury is blinding not only for herself but
anyone who gets in her way. That is how I lost control during our fight
on the night of June 6th.
I understand that none of these words of explanation justify my actions.
My actions were wrong, but they were not the only wrong ones. Raychel
was often the instigator in our fights (not just the arguments – the
fights). Again, that does not justify my personal actions. We all have
choices and some of mine were wrong. That being said, I did not murder
her. There are a lot of people who immediately considered me guilty
because of our previous altercations (Lance, Laura, and the police for
example). These people came to their conclusions before they ever
interviewed me about Raychel’s murder. Once they knew about our fight in
June, they stopped looking for Raychel’s killer.
For the record, the reason we argued and fought that night was because I
had just learned that Raychel had been sleeping with Geoffrey MacIntyre
for some time. I find it interesting that while he was willing to tell
you about my fight with Raychel, he didn’t mention why we were fighting.
Question 2 - July 29, 2001 - An anonymous question asked, "How
come it took you 2 1/2 hrs to drive endlessly but it only took you 1 1/2
to get back?"
Response 2:
Because when I left, I didn't know where I was going, so I drove around
aimlessly. When I decided to come back, I drove straight home.
Question 3 - August 1, 2001 - Alexcia from Surrey,
British Columbia asked, "Have you ever had an argument with Raychel
or witnessed someone who had?"
Response 3:
I have argued more times with Raychel than I care to count. There were a
number of reasons for those arguments also. Some were my fault, but many
more were because of Raychel’s headstrong nature leading her into
self-destructive paths. I tried to help guide her away from them, but
was not always successful.
As to your question if I have witnessed other people arguing with
Raychel, I have. Here’s a quick list off the top of my head:
|
"I think he [Sergei] was worried what kind of Hell Geoffrey would
unleash on him if Sergei stayed in his position. If I was working
under Geoffrey, I’d be afraid, too." |
Lance Wagner
Laura Douglass
Ken Kincaid
Sharon Wolfe
Geoffrey MacIntyre
Myself (honesty dictates I include myself)
Again, that’s only off the top of my head.
Question 4 - August 7, 2001 - Carly from Westminster,
MD asked, "Is there anyone who is on your side in the case? How did
Sergei get fired and why?"
Response 4:
If there is one person who I know is “on my side” it is Anna Fantiani.
Anna and I spoke at Raychel’s funeral and I think that she understands
me as well as she understood Raychel. There might be a couple more who
would claim to be, but I think they are more interested in themselves.
On your other question, I heard that Sergei wasn’t fired. He quit out of
fear after Geoffrey MacIntyre went ballistic about discovering me and
Raychel recording at Terror Trax without his divine instruction. I think
he was worried what kind of Hell Geoffrey would unleash on him if Sergei
stayed in his position. If I was working under Geoffrey, I’d be afraid,
too.
Question 5 - September 26, 2001 - Julie from IL asked,
"You are looking more like an Angel every minute than the devil everyone
else had made you seem in the beginning. Lance and Laura are
looking pretty bad...and I don't see either of them coming out to defend
themselves. Do you believe one of them was the murderer of
Raychel? Laura wanted to become famous herself and Lance just
wanted Raychel to himself for his art or just him is what I believe.
Do you think they could have both teamed together and killed Raychel?
Do you think Lance went on a jealous rage and killed Raychel? I
mean she left him, slept with you, then she ended up with Ken Kincaid,
and then it was said Geoffrey...hmmm, wait a minute. Maybe all of
these illicit affairs could have put you to the jealous rage you were
capable of and maybe killing Raychel but not meaning to in the process.
Maybe the killing was an accident. You two had a very physical
violent confrontation in the past even though you deny these allegations
that came up in the beginning. Weren't you jealous to the fact
that you were not Raychel's only partner and that she may have even
slept with her janitor friend Sergei? Or her great drug friend
Laura put a hit out on Raychel to get rid of this pain in her side.
Raychel was taking up all the attention with her beauty and her more
talented art. Laura wanted to be famous and to make Safehaven
famous, and Raychel was about to do that but Laura introduced her to her
pal Ken Kincaid and well...this didn't help Safehaven or Laura. It
actually took Raychel in a different direction because Laura didn't plan
on you being there directing how things were going to be done, I think
Laura even used Ken as a way to get her away from you...I wonder do you
think Laura put a hit out on Raychel to get rid of her once and for
all?"
Response 5:
I thank you for your initial compliment but I am not an Angel. I’m
just a man. I am complete with faults of my own (a lack of
patience and a temper on the flip side), but I have owned up to them
(see my previous Q&A Responses). Perhaps that’s enough to separate
me from the others here. By the way, an affair with Sergei? Please
tell me you’re kidding!

"It
seems Laura has a habit of double-crossing Lance . . . yet he
keeps coming back to her. Do you think there’s an attraction
or is it just the money?" |
Laura and Lance working together to murder Raychel? That’s
interesting. I know they have a common link with The Bleeders, but
sometimes they have real problems working together. It seems Laura
has a habit of double-crossing Lance (with the web site and the
“marriage” thing being at the top of the list) yet he keeps coming back
to her. Do you think there’s an attraction or is it just the
money? Personally, I think it’s the money. I think the only
time they ever worked well together was when they created The Bleeders
together. Otherwise, I’m at a loss.
Question 6 - December 19, 2001 - Monica in New Albany,
IN asked, "During the time you and Raychel lived together did she ever
speak of her past? It seems no one knows of or speaks about anything
they knew of her before 1997. Where was she from 1980 to 1997? Who were
the significant people in her life? What did she do for a living? etc."
Response 6:
When we were back in Hunter, Raychel told me a number of stories about
her childhood and her life prior to becoming a member of The Bleeders.
To make a long story short, Raychel ran away from her parents in 1990
and began a seven-year journey across the country from Connecticut to
Los Angeles. Since she didn’t have enough money to make the trek
(actually she didn’t have any money), she worked her way across the
country. She would get a job and a cheap place to live in a city and try
to store up money so that she could make it to the next major city. She
did it to keep out of sight from her parents. She said she would rather
die than go back to her father. I believed her. So for that reason I
think the only significant person in her life until she came to L.A. was
her father. Raychel didn’t stay in a town long enough to make real
friends. She said that friends spent money together and she was too busy
saving money so that she could get one city closer to L.A. I admired her
when she told me how she did it. I was able to make it to L.A. because I
have money. Raychel came because she thought her dreams lay here and she
worked for seven years to get here. They almost came true.
Question 7 - December 19, 2001 - Monica in New Albany,
IN asked, "When exactly did you discover that Raychel had an affair with
Geoffrey? Ken?"
Response 7:
I learned about Raychel’s affair with Geoffrey MacIntyre on June 6,
2000. Raychel and I were about to leave Terror Trax for the day. This
was back when Geoffrey was still running our recording sessions. Anyway
I was packing up my equipment in the studio when Sergei walked in
looking for Raychel. I told him that she was out of the studio and he
asked if she was with Geoffrey again. I turned to look at Sergei and
noticed the death stare he was receiving from Sharon. It was through
those events that I learned about the affair Raychel had been having
with Geoffrey right under my nose. I am not proud of my actions after
that.
The
affair with Ken Kincaid is another matter. At this time I do not know
what to make of that allegation. I know that Sharon has stated that
Raychel admitted the affair; however, I haven’t heard anyone else
confirm that it ever happened. Since Raychel is no longer alive to
answer the allegation, I guess that we will have to await Ken Kincaid’s
admission. Right now, I do not know whether or not to believe Sharon,
but I don’t know what reason she would have to lie. That disturbs me.

"If
he [Sergei] quit his job at Terror Trax out of fear of Geoffrey
MacIntyre, he’d leave the country if he thought I was mad at him." |
Question 8 - February 24, 2002 - Ken Kincaid in Los
Angeles, CA asked, "One question about your contract with Terror
Trax . . . Did you think that having your recording contract tied
to Raychel's made you bulletproof or did you suspect that Terror Trax
had an alternative plan in case you became too disruptive in the studio?"
Response 8:
While I did feel secure in my position in the studio, I disagree that I
felt "bulletproof." Besides, my arguments with Geoffrey MacIntyre
were not based on any attempt to drive him out of "my" studio.
Instead, I fought to have Raychel's music recorded in a way that was
representative of our performances prior to your Halloween concert.
Neither of us were comfortable with MacIntyre's techno treatment of her
music. The words were what made her music special, and MacIntyre's
approach was ruining that. As far as Terror Trax having an
alternative plan, I didn't think you needed to have one, but now I am
glad that I didn't find out what it was. Or did you never have a
backup plan in the first place?
Question 9 - April 5, 2002 - Dawn in Michigan asked, "Have
you ever hit Raychel?"
Response 9:
The short answer to your question is yes. However,
Question 1 in my Q&A Responses provides a more extensive response.
Question 10 - April 8, 2002 - Julie from IL asked, "You
said that Raychel befriended Sergei after an embarrassing moment at
Terror Trax. I guess it was another one of those accidental
walk-ins? Do you believe him? You said you couldn't believe
that day what a talented musician he was and why he would be cleaning
offices at Terror Trax. How did this come about? Did you ask
him to play or did he offer? What did he play? I just have a
hard time believing that he is that naïve. I think he knows some
of what he is doing. Look at how you found out about Raychel and
Geoffrey. He probably knew exactly where they were. He had already
walked in on them twice. Do you know if this was one of those
days? Since he is so talented, did anyone mention this to anyone
at Terror Trax or Cain International? Did you want to work with
him after seeing his talent? You don't think he was trying to worm
his way in with Raychel and get something going for himself? Maybe
I am wrong but it just seems like he had access to a lot at Terror
Trax."
Response 10:
The embarrassing moment was when Sergei showed me up. Raychel used
him to show up both Geoffrey and me when we were fighting about
different versions of the song “No More Dreams No More.” Rather
than act as the tie-breaker herself, Raychel asked Sergei to judge
between the two versions. He listened to my version and said it
was easy enough for him to play. I thought he was just trying to
insult me, so I challenged him to play it on the piano. He played
the damn song after hearing it once. As if that wasn’t enough, he
told me that he didn’t play the piano that well. He preferred
drums. Very funny. Needless to say, I do not have a wish to
work with him, despite whatever talent he may have.
I agree
that he is not as dim a bulb as he pretends to be. I don’t think
he was hinting when he mentioned all of the time Raychel and Geoffrey
spent together. I think he was rubbing it in my face. I
think he didn’t expect me to figure it out and he wanted to have some
fun. How long did he know about their affair, a month? Maybe
he had dropped hints before, but they never clicked like they did that
day.
What I
don’t know is what he was trying to accomplish. Maybe he was
jealous of me because Raychel and I were together and they weren’t.
Whatever. I will say this: If he quit his job at Terror Trax out
of fear of Geoffrey MacIntyre, he’d leave the country if he thought I
was mad at him. Despite those feelings, though, Raychel and I
could never have pulled off our secret recording sessions without him.
That “access” he had came in very handy for us when we needed him.
