Melancholy

In the summer of 1985, we
went on vacation to Amelia Island in Florida. This was the last vacation
we took as a whole family, as I entered college later that same year. I
don't know why I like this photograph. Perhaps it is the incongruity of
the image. Here is Raychel looking lovely in Florida, but at the same
time she has a lonely look on her face and she has turned her back to
the beauty of the scene (notice the reflection of the water in the
window behind her).
