Geoffrey MacIntyre and Sharon Wolfe

Control. He, like the others, wanted Raychel. But unlike the others, Geoffrey was obsessive in his need to control her. This was evident by the hiring of Sharon Wolfe to watch Raychel and report on her movements. It is obvious that Sharon was not hired as a true bodyguard as illustrated by her lack of “protection” when Raychel needed it the most.
The two points in Raychel’s life that she could have really used a bodyguard were during the severe beating she suffered at the hands of Kyle and the night when she was murdered. But it should be remembered that Sharon was not hired to protect her, just to spy on her.
On the night of the murder, Geoffrey found out that Raychel and Kyle had secretly began recording again since July 24 with Sergei Brosovsky and Ken Kincaid providing interference. Geoffrey felt betrayed and stormed into the studio to confront them. He argued with Raychel and then Kyle. It must had been apparent to Geoffrey that he could no longer control any aspect of Raychel’s life, neither professional nor personal. That made him angry enough to kill her.

Geoffrey MacIntyre is the only person Raychel is actual afraid of. This is verified by Raychel’s letter to him dated 6/17: “I’m afraid of you.” Her fear is also discussed in Kyle memories entitled “A Day In Hell.” “I think it was the first time she was afraid of Geoffrey MacIntyre. The previous times she had met him, he had been working for us. Now, after closing him out of our loop, we was an angry boss. The only people he could punish were Raychel and myself.”
We only have his and Sharon’s word that he was getting wasted while at Safehaven. Just because Sharon kept the drinks coming doesn’t mean that he actually drunk them. It could have been an act. No breathalyzer was performed by police to determined if he was actually drunk.
The brutality of the crime suggests a man.
Here is my timeline:
10:00 Sergei leaves Kyle’s apartment.
10:15-11:40 Geoffrey has no alibi other than Sharon Wolfe to corroborate his whereabouts. “At Day’s End”, Laura Douglass stated that Sharon came up to the bar without Geoffrey at 10:15.
10:15-11:10 Sharon engages Laura in a conversation to provide an alibi for herself and give Geoffrey time to go to Kyle’s apartment and kill Raychel. She is a willing accomplice because she doesn’t like Raychel and said in “Nobody’s Victim” “And it’s something no one else will say, but everyone knew (including Raychel) – Raychel had it coming!”
10:15-11:20 Geoffrey MacIntyre drives to Raychel’s apartment, enters her apartment, and kills her. He has plenty of time. The level of destruction to the apartment and the fact the murderer had stabbed Raychel 23 times suggests the killer was not hurried. He was in the process of moving her body when he heard Laura at 11:20. Leaving the body where it is, he leaves and returns to Safehaven.
11:10-11:40 Laura leaves to check on Raychel.
11:20-11:42 Sharon leaves the bar, giving the waitress a $100 bill and tell her to keep the drinks coming and not to tell Laura that she is slipping out. She might have told the waitress that Geoffrey was in the restroom to explain why he wasn’t at the table. But she doesn’t leave to follow Laura. Instead she meets Geoffrey. Geoffrey goes into the back way to change clothes and clean himself up. Sharon waits by the back door and get the clothes he committed the murder in and gets rid of them. He tells Sharon that Laura broke in at 11:20 with a credit card. That is how Sharon knows that Laura was there. She did not have to follow her at all.
11:30 Returns to table. Accepts drink from waitress.
11:40 Laura returns to Safehaven. According to her comments in “At Day’s End” she saw Geoffrey slouched over in a corner booth alone. It was easy for Geoffrey to slouch. I’m sure he was very exhausted after killing Raychel.
11:41-11:42 Laura indicated that after her return to Safehaven, Sharon appeared behind her and spoke to her. Sharon at this point had returned from getting rid of evidence that tied Geoffrey to the murder. Geoffrey may have changed into different clothes to commit the murder and changed back into the clothes he initially wore in the bar upon his return.
11:45 Geoffrey and Sharon leave Safehaven and drive to Geoffrey’s place. He devises the plan for her to drive back to Kyle’s apartment and call him from there. Geoffrey wanted Kyle to be charged with the murder because he blamed Kyle for his inability to control Raychel professionally.
1:15 Sharon makes the prearranged call to Geoffrey again to throw suspicion to Kyle.
1:20 Geoffrey calls Ken telling him about Sharon’s phone call to throw further suspicion on Kyle. Geoffrey hates Ken and thinks it ironic that he is using one person he hated to throw suspicion on a person that he hated even more.
1:35-2:00 Ken and Geoffrey ride together to the apartment. It is noted in the report that Geoffrey is able to get into the apartment before her body had been removed. He probably wanted to look at it to be sure that he had left no evidence on the body that pointed at him.

Just a few points in response to your well-detailed theory regarding what is rapidly becoming called The Painseeker Murder:
1 – At the end of your theory, you state that I reported Geoffrey was in the apartment before the body had been removed. I assume you are interpreting this from my Investigation Report titled “First Suspect” where I wrote:
“Geoffrey MacIntyre's sudden appearance at the crime scene was an oddity for the police. Mr. MacIntyre appeared before the police had the opportunity to remove the body from the apartment.”
For the record, I did not mean to imply that Mr. MacIntyre was inside the apartment at this time. I only meant to show how quickly he arrived at the crime scene (i.e. – the apartment complex). I know that this does not alter any aspect of your theory, I just wanted to clarify that point before others grabbed on to it.
2 – How do you explain the deterioration of the relationship between Sharon and Geoffrey since the murder? I assume you believe that it is an act intended to throw people off the track, but I wanted to leave that to you just in case.
3 – The large opening of time for Geoffrey in your theory (10:15 – 11:40) seems almost too large to believe for a few reasons:
I have been to Safehaven and I can tell you that you can see across it from one end to the other. That being said, I was there when it was before business hours and empty, not when it was full of people late at night. I suppose if you didn’t pay much attention to someone, they could practically disappear (or the same thing if they “go to the bathroom”).
The 10:15 conversation “at the bar” between Sharon and Laura indicated to me that – since they were both already at Safehaven – the conversation took place between them at the bar (also called the rail) as opposed to the stage or the bathroom. At this time, Geoffrey could have also been at the bar, but at the corner booth.
This is the thing I have trouble getting over. Assuming that Sharon and Geoffrey were in on the murder together (and that Sharon was covering for Geoffrey) why would Sharon tip a waitress $100 to watch over a person who wasn’t even there? Wouldn’t the money and the elaborate set-up only help draw attention to the fact that Geoffrey wasn’t in the bar? I’d like your input on this one.
4 – In your scenario, we assume that Geoffrey was in the apartment when Laura was at the apartment door (dragging the body). Laura then leaves the door and comes straight back to Safehaven to find Geoffrey already returned to the corner booth. How did Geoffrey get out of the apartment, drive back to Safehaven, and change clothes before Laura?
5 – Are you also assuming that Geoffrey originally intended to kill both Raychel and Kyle? How would he know that Raychel was alone when he knocked on the apartment door?
There are a few things that might be clarified by Laura in this scenario if not for the fact that she is currently in prison and on trial. After watching this week’s events, I doubt we’ll ever actually hear from her on the site again. Regardless, if you are right, then Laura could tell us when was the last time she saw Geoffrey BEFORE she left Safehaven.
If you would like to comment on any or all of these points, please e-mail me.

First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to review my theory. I will address the points in the order in which they were presented.
1. While it does not alter my theory, I appreciate the clarification. Geoffrey may have arrived at the apartment as quickly as he did to verify for himself that Raychel was dead.
2. The apparent deterioration of the relationship between Sharon and Geoffrey since the murder possibly occurred for several reasons.
As you suggested, it was an act. They did not want to appear to have a close relationship so the investigators would not suspect collusion between the two. Remember, this was also suggested in the relationship between Laura and Sharon.
After a while, it no longer became an act for Geoffrey as he is the type of individual who appears very charming until he gets what he wants. This is verified in Raychel’s letter to Geoffrey. Once Sharon had completed her duties as his accomplice, Geoffrey did not have any use for her and would have become distant following the murder. The fact that Sharon subsequently got arrested was a fortunate happenstance for Geoffrey. He knows that Sharon would not betray him without incriminating herself. Also, she could still be in love with him.
3. By 10:00pm, the bar would have a sufficient number of patrons. When Sharon engaged Laura in conversation, she could have stood where Laura would not have a good view of the corner. In addition, Laura had no reason to keep looking in the corner to see if Geoffrey was there for three reasons. One, she knew that Sharon was there to take care of Geoffrey. Number two, they were having a conversation. Number three, Laura wanted to get away from Geoffrey’s because in her words ”Geoffrey has a tendency to whine when he doesn't get his way, and this one was no exception.” Four, Laura would be busy managing her business.
Sharon tipped the waitress $100 to say that SHE wasn’t there and to provide an alibi for Geoffrey. By this time Laura had already left at 11:10. Sharon would have tipped the waitress around 11:15-11:20 and gave her excuse that Geoffrey was in the restroom. Geoffrey was back at the table by 11:30. So to the waitress, he was only gone for 10 minutes.
4. It is a ten-minute drive to the apartment from Safehaven. At 11:20, he left and hurried back. He would have arrived at 11:30. That gave him ten minutes to change and get back to the booth. It also gave Sharon 10 minutes to get rid of the bloody clothes. Laura did not get back to Safehaven until 11:40.
5. I’m glad you asked that question. At the risk of both Kyle and Raychel being in the house, I doubt that Sharon would risk entering the apartment herself. None of them, neither Sharon, Laura, nor Geoffrey could know if Raychel was alone or with Kyle. Out of the three, I can only see Geoffrey willing to take that chance, killing both of them if necessary.
